It was through the shelter, their transition living program and many volunteers and contributors that enabled this to happen. Basically, the kindness of strangers. During this time she wrote and painted. She authored "Dead Wrong - The truth about domestic violence, incest and child abuse" in 2002. The book documents Angela's account of leaving domestic violence in 1996 compared to her mother's escape 25 years before. Most of her art has been inspired by her transformation from a victim to becoming an art goddess.
Angela Hayden's Art Goddess Shop sells gifts, framed prints, posters, postcards, greeting cards, mugs, t-shirts, hoodies and more. She has several illustrated poems about being a survivor and overcoming tragedy. Her artwork is colorful, modern, women oriented and inspirational.

A Texas native, Angela served on the Board of Directors for The Family Place, one of the largest family violence agencies in the country, as well as having served on the boards of The Dallas Homeless Consortium and The Dallas Women's Center.
"Besides being an author and artist, she is a public speaker and has addressed audiences of over 500 regarding domestic violence, incest and child abuse." She's given a multi-media presentation at The Women's Museum, Dallas City Hall and spoken to law students at SMU. She has appeared on Good Morning Texas and has been interviewed by media outlets in Austin, Texas where she testified before the Texas Senate regarding domestic violence.
